When its cold outside I like to comfort myself with delicious mashed potatoes. And once we are at it lets make it super creamy. I finished off the mashed potatoes with some leek and crispy bacon.


- 250gr of butter

- 250gr of bacon cubes

- 250ml of cream

- 6 big potatoes (make sure to use potatoes that are fit to make mashed


- 1 leek

- Flat leaf parsley

- Salt

- Nutmeg

- Pepper


1. Put a big pot with water on a high fire and add a pinch of salt to the


2. Peel the potatoes and cut them into big pieces.

3. Place the potato pieces in a bowl with water to rinse them.

4. Once the water is boiling, you place the potato pieces in the pot with

boiling water.

5. Let the potatoes cook on a high fire until they are done.

6. In the meanwhile, place a pan on a high fire.

7. Add a little bit of butter to the pan and let this melt.

8. Add the bacon cubes to the pan and bake until crispy.

9. Afterwards, place a napkin on a plate and add the crispy bacon to it.

10. Wash the leek and cut it into fine pieces.

11. Place a pan on a high fire.

12. Add a little bit of butter to the pan and let this melt.

13. Add the leek to the pan and cook until ready.

14. Season with salt and pepper.

15. Poke into the potatoes with a fork to see if they are done.

16. Once they are done, place a colander in your sink and pour the

potatoes into the colander.

17. Place the potatoes back into your hot pot.

18. Add butter to it and the cream.

19. Take your potato masher and mash the potatoes until you get a puree.

20. Season with pepper, salt and nutmeg (to your own liking).

21. Once you have creamy mashed potatoes you add the leek to it. Stir this


22. Place the mashed potatoes with leek on a plate.

23. Add on top of the mashed potatoes with leek the crispy bacon pieces.

24. On top of that, I like to add some finely chopped parsley as a finishing
